10th, 11th & 12th Grade - This course includes instruction in the repair and refinishing of vehicles, including:
dent, spot and rust repair, frame straightening, installation of parts and accessories, preparation for paint and complete auto painting and refinishing.  The program features state of the art facilities, tools and equipment.

Duty/Task List

 

Mr. John Fuller

Mr. Fuller has taught Auto Collision Repair Technology at Crawford County CTC for 21 years. He is a graduate of the former Crawford County AVTS and has worked at two General Motors dealerships. He is a certified Auto Collision Technician for Chevrolet and Pontiac Motor Divisions. Mr. Fuller is a Certified Painter through PPG Industries's Painter Certification Program. He is an ASE Master Technician in Auto Collsion Repair. He received his Certification for Vocational Technical Instructor I and II + 16 through Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Mr. Fuller served on the Technical Commitee to update the NOCTI (National Ocuupational Competency Testing Institute) Exam. He is a proctor for the Occupational Competency Exam for future instructors in the Auto Collision Repair field. He serves on the Advisory Committee for the Erie County Technical School Auto Collision Repair shop and the General Advisory Committee for Crawford County CTC. Mr. Fuller is one of two SkillsUSA Advisors at Crawford County CTC and serves as the Technical Chair of the PA SkillsUSA Auto Collision Refinish contest for the state.

Automotive Collision repair persons work in small privately owned shops or for auto and truck dealerships.   About one in four auto body repair persons is self-employed.  The Auto Collision repair business is not sensitive to economic downturns; experienced auto body repair persons enjoy good employment security.

Instructional Sequence Chart

Students enrolling in this program should:

  • have good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity and average physical strength
  • be able to manipulate fractions, percentages, proportions
  • have career-appropriate measuring, mechanical and spatial relationship skills
  • be able to work in the presence of dust, abrasives, paints and solvents
