
10th, 11th, & 12th Grade - This program concentrates on studies required to achieve the CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications. The student becomes skilled at computer maintenance and repair and network design and implementation. The CompTIA A+ certification is the industry standard for computer support technicians. This certification proves competence in areas such as installation, preventative maintenance, networking, security and troubleshooting. The CompTIA Network+ certification proves a technician's competency in managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, installing and configuring basic network infrastructure.
Information technology, even in a tough economy, is a rapidly growing and necessary field. CompTIA certification means increased job security, additional career opportunities and increased credibility in the workplace.

Job opportunities include the following:

Computer Operator - operates and monitors computer equipment. Performs routine tasks to maintain computer equipment and their peripherals

Customer Service Technician - Dedicated to customer satifaction on-site or in-house. Assists with computer projects involving service, repair and installation. Suggests the use of products and services. Uses problem management databases. Assists with problem resolution and change management processses.

PC Technician - Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals. Documents, maintains, upgrades or replaces hardware and software systems. Assists in implementing custom configurations.

Service Center Technician - Responsible for the installation, repair and maintenance of personal computer hardware equipment and peripherals. Works on assignments that are routine in nature, following policies and procedures, where limited judgement is required in resolving problems and making recommendations

Network Support Technician - Monitors and maintains the company's network systems. Identifies, documents and implements solutions to problems. Performs network back-ups and measures performance.

Network Analyst - Reviews, plans and evaluates network systems. May troubleshoot network systems and recommend improvements to network. Provides documentaiton, project tracking and management reporting. May provide tactical input on overall network planning and related projects.

Mrs. Michele Hunter
Mrs. Hunter has been working in the computer field for over 20 years. She has held many positions including Computer Analyst, Programmer, Software Specialist, Help Desk Coordinator, Smart Classroom Design and Construction Manager and teacher of business and computer classes. Mrs. Hunter worked for the Department of Labor and Industry in Harrisburg, Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Pittsburgh, Syscon, Inc. (programming for the US Army) in Virginia, and most recently Allegheny College and Conneaut Valley High School.
While working at Allegheny College, Mrs. Hunter returned to school to acquire her Pennsylvania Teacher Certification. She earned her Pennsylvania Teaching Certification - Level II from Mercyhurst College and is now working toward her vocational certification through Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
