10th, 11th, & 12th Grade - Experience the world of beauty and fashion through the Cosmetology program at the Crawford County CTC.  Use cutting edge techniques to deliver that precision hair cut, manicure, facial or hair color treatment.  Two days a week you will master your skills with paying customers in our student operated salon.  Students who successfully complete the course work and have at least 1250 hours of instruction can earn their certification from the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology.

 

From basement shops to the hair salons on Broadway, the opportunities in cosmetology are limitless.  The Cosmetology Program at Crawford County Career Technical Center is designed to prepare students for an exciting career as a color artist, makeup artist, cosmetician, manicurist, manager, salon owner, cosmetic lab technician, product demonstrator, and manufacturer’s representative.  The program not only qualifies successful students for a variety of career paths, but also will allow them to express their own unique style and creativity. In addition to mobility, this field offers excellent financial benefits to hardworking creative individuals. Our students are prepared for the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology licensure exam. Upon receiving their license, students may go anywhere in Pennsylvania and immediately become employed.


An entering Cosmetology student should:

  • Have good hand-eye coordination
  • Sincere interest in a career of Cosmetology
  • Stand for long periods of time

Following is a list of courses offered by the sending schools which can enhance technical training:

  • English/Communications- Listen actively/ Speak Clearly
  • Mathematics - Basic Math, Algebra I and II, Geometry
  • Computer Basics
  • Biology, Chemistry, Psychology

Before a student can begin the Cosmetology Program they must have/purchase:

  • Completed the 9th grade
  • Smock  – two / ordered during Summer-(purchased by student from Crawford County Career Technical Center)
  • All white leather shoes (purchased by student)
  • Short white sport socks (purchased by student anywhere)
  • Cosmetology kit and books- must have deposit made before first day of school (purchased by student from Crawford County Career Technical Center)

PA Skills Certificate
for Cosmetology (National Occupational Competency Testing Institute)

The student must pass the Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology exam before entering the workforce.
