
11th & 12th Grade - This two year course provides instruction in the five areas of Horticulture studies. First year students receive entry-level instruction in the following areas: Landscape Maintenance and Design, Green House and Nursery Management, Turfgrass, Horticutlural Mechanics and Retail Flower Shop Management. Second Year students are provided with the opportunities to do advanced studies in these areas. |

Completers of the Horticulture Course are prepared for entry-level employment with landscape operations, tree services, green house and nursery operations, garden centers and retail floral operations. Advanced training and Post-secondary education is available in these areas. Professional degrees may be obtained.

A Horticulture student must have:

An excellent understanding of scientific principls including genetics and botany

A desire to learn mechanical skills

A desire to work out of doors

Average or above reading, writing, math and science skills

The stamina to stoop and lift heavy objects in the creation and maintenance of landscape or green house settings
