If you are an enrolled student, a Financial Aid Day will be scheduled prior to the beginning of the school year to review specific financial aid information. The Financial Aid Officer will work with you throughout the enrollment period to determine your financial aid needs and responsibilities. The following overview of grants, loans, and financial aid information is provided for your general understanding of available educational funds. Grants Pell - This grant is based on financial need and is federally funded. The maximum possible grant is $5,550. The amount you are awarded is based on the financial information you provide from your previous year’s income tax forms. This information is entered on a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form will be completed on the scheduled Financial Aid Day with the assistance of the Financial Aid Officer. Stafford Loans a) Subsidized – maximum loan is $3,500, no payment due until six (6) months after graduation. b) Unsubsidized – maximum loan is $6,000, interest due upon receipt of the loan. c) Plus – parent loan used for dependent students. Applications may be obtained at the school or a participating lending institution. Sources of Financial Assistance 1. Department of Public Welfare – individuals who are eligible to receive cash and/or food stamps may meet the criteria to receive the following allowances: child care, transportation, car repair or purchase, relocation, clothing, tools, books, supplies, test fees, professional fees, registration fees, and medical assistance. Career Development Component – the CDC program authorizes funding to eligible Welfare clients for tuition and other school-related expenses in cooperation with DPW. For more information call the CDC case manager @ 724-4018. 3. Workforce Investment Act (WIA) – The CCCTC – Practical Nursing Program is an approved training provider for these Title I funds administered by Crawford County Career Link. To determine eligibility for funding a student must register at the local Career Link or on-line by logging onto https://www.cwds.state.pa.us/ For additional information contact the Career Link @ 337-5574. 4. Trade Adjustment Assistance Program (TAA) – this federal program provides assistance to workers who lose their jobs or whose hours of work and wages are reduced as a result of increased imports. You may qualify to receive re-employment services, such as allowances for training, job search, and relocation. For more information contact the Career Link @ 337-5574. 5. Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) – students who have experienced employment difficulties because of physical and/or mental impairments are evaluated by the agency to determine eligibility for program funding. Veteran’s Educational Benefits – The CCCTC – Practical Nursing Program is approved by the Veteran’s Administration for educational benefits. Loans and grants may be available to assist veterans, disabled veterans, children of disabled or deceased veterans. For more information contact the local PA Department of Education @ (888) 442-4551. Scholarships There are many scholarships available for students in health-related fields. These can be researched independently or with the assistance of the Financial Aid Officer. A computer with internet connection is available for your use in the school classroom and/or library. Also, employers are offering incentives such as tuition reimbursement and loan forgiveness to nurses in order to meet staffing needs of the health care facilities. Refund Policy – The CCCTC – PN Program has adopted a refund policy, which is in keeping with the requirements of the Federal Title IV Refund guidelines. The methodology utilized to calculate refunds is based on hours completed in a payment period. Click here for detailed policy. If the student submits written notification of withdrawal on or before the first day of the program, he/she will be refunded 100% of the tuition paid minus $100 administration fee and the $15 liability fee. DEFAULT – means failure to repay a student loan according to the terms agreed to when you signed a Promissory Note. Default also means failure to submit requests for deferment or cancellation on time. Defaulting on a student loan affects your future credit rating for a long time. There are many serious implications to student loan default which will be covered in detail during the Financial Aid Day. Each student, in addition to attending the Financial Aid Day, will meet with the Financial Aid Officer individually. A financial need assessment will be conducted utilizing all of the information that you provide the FAO. An Individual Financial Aid Plan will be developed and maintained in your financial aid file.
