Make-A-Difference Day

This year, nine students and three adults participted in the Western Crawford County Make-A-Difference Day.

Our project was to help clean and prepare Roche Park (Vernon Township) for the winter months. Students painted wooden signs and posts at activity areas along the park's trail, raked leaves (what a job!), clean flower beds, and spread compost in the flower beds.

Raking Leaves......a daunting task!
If we're going to rake them,
we might as well jump in them..
Composting (that's code for horse manure) flower beds

Houses for the Homeless

Unbelievable, but true....one of the greatest needs in our community is shelter, food, furniture and sometimes, a way back home.

When Kellie Peru (Child Care), Emily Davis (Child Care) and Amy DeWoody (Electrical Occupations) decided to spearhead a community service project for our chapter, they called Crawford County Mental Health Awareness Program - CHAPS. When they asked what programs were in need, without hesitation, they were told the Emergency Homeless Fund would be greatful for any help we could give.

That was the beginning of the drive to raise funds and awareness of the remarkable program

Amy DeWoody and Kellie Peru met with CHAPS to learn how they serve our community and what we could do to help in serving.
