Mr. McGuirk has been employed as a member of the Crawford County Career Technical Center's Student Services Staff since September of 1991. He has served as the Chairperson of Student Services since September of 1993. He obtained a Bachelors of Arts in Communications (1981) as well as a Masters of Secondary Education (1991) from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. He also earned a Masters of Religious Education from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (1985). He loves living with his family in Nothwestern Pennsylvania.
Mr. Thomas Vanco

Mr. Vanco has served as the special populations coordinator for the Crawford County Career and Technical Center since 1993. He has also been a SkillsUSA advisor and a GED examiner for the school. Mr. Vanco has served as a member of the Crawford County CTC Strategic Planning Committee. Before coming to Crawford County CTC, Mr. Vanco served in the capacity as a special education teacher for the City of Erie School District. He also has taught special needs students through the Intermediate Unit #5’s partial hospitalization program for troubled youth. Mr. Vanco has also worked as a counselor for Hermitage House Youth Services.
Before entering the teaching profession Mr. Vanco worked as a draftsman in the research and development department of A.O.Smith Meter Systems in Erie Pennsylvania. He also has worked for General Electric of Erie as an electrical/mechanical draftsman. Mr. Vanco also managed the dairy section of a cooperative foods market in Denver Colorado.
Mr. Vanco is a graduate of Cambridge Springs High School and the Crawford County Career and Technical Center’s drafting program. Mr. Vanco received his Bachelors of Science in Education from Edinboro University with a certification in elementary and special education. Mr.Vanco also received a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology from Edinboro University. Mr. Vanco keeps current in his profession through continuing masters level courses in education.

The Student Services staff is available to any High School student who is attending or is interested in attending Crawford County Career and Technical Center.
Some of the services that may be provided:
- Guiding students through the admission process to Crawford County Career and Technical Center
- A Career Lab which provides resources for students - One of these resources is appropriately named Career Cruising, and is available to all CCCTC high school students.
- Helping students through the college/post-secondary search process
- Providing guidance and resources to make the job-interview process easier
- Scholarship search
- In-school tutoring
All high school students attending the Crawford County CTC, are required to have a Student Portfolio upon graduation. While the instructor is the main source of guidance in the Student Portfolio, Student Services provides guidance and resources to help students navigate the process. As with all the staff at Crawford County CTC, it is the goal of Student Services to make a student's education as rewarding and productive as possible.
