10th, 11th & 12th Grade - This course provides instruction in the multiple types of welding including Arc, Mig, Tig, Flux-core, Oxy-fuel, and Micro-Welding.  Instruction in Plasma cutting and Oxy-fuel cutting are also included along with basic blueprint reading. The curriculum is based upon the American Welding Society national standards, which require competence in math and science that would apply to the welding industry. Students need to prepare for this class with college prep math, reading, science curriculum at their sending school along with drafting where available.

PA Skills Certificate

 

An entering Welding student should:

  • have a sincere interest in a career in the field of welding
  • have good hand-eye coordination
  • have average or above average skills in measurement and mechanical reasoning
  • possess the physical strength and mobility to work over-head for long periods of time
  • be willing to enroll in rigorous math, science and English classes at the sending school

The following items will be required on the first day of school - Used items are fine:

  • Flame Retardant Welding Jacket & Leather Welding Gloves
  • 100% Cotton Denim Jeans-free from holes-worn for class only
  • Leather, high top, steel toed work shoes
  • Pocket measuring tape
  • Combination Tri-Square-12" or 16" length blade
  • Vise-Gips
  • Notebook
  • Safety Glasses-CCCTC will provide non-prescription glasses to 1st year students
  • Welding Helmet-Auto Darkening helmets are the best, but a regular helmet would be fine

Completers of the Welding program seek immediate employment at welding shops and/or go on to post-secondry welding or engineering schools.

Completers with competence in the A.W.S. of NOCTI standards are qualified for entry-level positions in the field of welding.
